Our first day in Peru!

Rise and shine, Peru Team!!! We woke up to eat breakfast in the hotel this morning; we still can’t believe that we are in Lima, Peru. The team met the translators-Eric, Malu, and Carrolina. Interns soon arrived, and the team was introduced to Mary Emily, Brittany, Krista, Kelli, Mackenzie, and Jennifer. Upon completing orientation, everyone boarded the bus and traveled to Reina de la Paz (the teen moms’ home). As we nervously approached, the team wondered what it would be like. It was amazing, as we soon discovered. The girls were really open to hearing about our lives and our testimonies. Many questions were asked, including ones about tornadoes, snow, our futures, travel costs, and “Estados Unidos” (United States) life. After eating enormous box lunches, the team went to play--this means that part of the team played soccer, others played volleyball, and the rest held babies. Some local kids came and hung out with us while we spent time with the girls. At 4:00 the team, translators, and interns went shopping at a huge outdoor market. Later, after eating a delicious dinner (chicken, rice, vegetables, French fries, and ice cream), we had devotions led by Sue Wetzel and a de-briefing meeting. Although apprehensive about going to San Ricardo tomorrow, we look forward to seeing what God has in store for us.

  1. Thanks for the update -- you guys are doing a great job with the blog; thanks for all the pics. It looks like hearts are already being stolen after just one day! Praise God that you met up with Mark and that all (people & bags)made it to Lima safe and sound. Let us know how we can be praying for you as things come up - that should be easy with San Ricardo coming up! Love you all and take care. Blessings.
